CARGO-Living or at home with a loading-robot
Folkwang Museum @ dis order, 2015
Installation, Video
The museum installation CARGO-Living draws inspiration from the foundational concept of traditional carpet weaving in Arabic and Persian cultures: through their patterns, they seek to transport the beauty of
regional landscapes and gardens into interior spaces. This work embraced this idea and transposed it into our contemporary ideological and geographical context. Instead of flourishing landscapes and gardens, we now primarily inhabit and thrive within a context of global trade and industrial infrastructure. We exist amidst them – colossal container landscapes symbolize the capitalist system that significantly shapes our consumerist lifestyle, defining our mental and material environment. Similar to these cultures of traditional carpet weaving, this carpet work references its vibrant yet technical surroundings, metaphorically bringing them into the heart of the living room. The work questions the capitalist, consumerist lifestyle and our
relationship with comfort, exploring the intricate interconnections between our existence and the ever evolving landscapes of commerce and consumption.
